| THE GREEN WEDDING 2009 |
|
As previously mentioned, the contest began in January 2009. In April 2009, the winners of the contest were chosen. There was a Green Wedding Panel created to review the essays and applicant information to select a winner. The Green Wedding Panel made their decision on Saleena and Kevin based on their clear and concise understanding of how to utilize the participating sponsors to make their wedding as eco-friendly as possible. The winners, Saleena and Kevin Washington, are a delightful couple who are very laid back yet very excited that they are the winners of a free wedding. Saleena is a 31-year-old school teacher, teaching at Tucker High School. She has been a teacher for 8 years. She grew up in King William, Virginia. Kevin is a quality assurance analyst for AquilQuest Corporation in Richmond. He grew up in Chesterfield. He is a Trustee and sings in the men's choir and young adult's choir at Oak Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Petersburg. The couple met through a mutual friend. As stated by Saleena and Kevin in their application submission, "Winning the Green Wedding 2009 would mean the world to us. Not only because it will give us an opportunity to have the wedding of our dreams that we cannot afford, but it will be practically walking distance from the place where we first laid eyes on each other." The couple met at TGI Friday's on Broad and Glenside. Their wedding and reception will be at Embassy Suites, directly behind TGI Friday's. Talk about ironic! There are many participating sponsors who are donating their products, time, and services to make this a very special day for Saleena and Kevin. For more details on Saleena and Kevin's exciting journey to their wedding which is November 14, 2009, please visit their wedding website www.wedannounce.com/saleenaandkevin.
